The room I would like is taken at the moment, what can I do?  Marina House is run on a seniority basis for room promotion.  This means that when a "better" (generally higher or towards the river) room becomes available the person with the longest tenancy who has a "lesser" room will be offered to move, if they refuse it will be the next most senior person and so on.  Once we have been through the present tenants we start to advertise the room on our site.  Therefore, if you fancy a particular room then your best bet is to move in and wait for movement.

I am interested in one of your larger rooms, can I book one?  In theory you can, however there is an "Executive" room waiting list internally.  It is HIGHLY unlikely that one of these rooms will ever be offered externally.  The "Executive" room waiting list is separate to normal promotion within Marina House.

What guidelines do you operate in Marina House?  On the whole we are very relaxed about Marina House.  We are a small apartment block so everybody knows everybody.  We also have a wonderful communal area where the residents sit and chat.  The basic rule is that as long as nobody offends anybody else and everybody respects everybody else then we are all fine.  We have a small set of guidelines mainly pertaining to safety and security.  Apart from that we operate "quiet times" between 22:30 and 08:00 Sun to Thu and then 00:00 to 08:00 on Fri and Sat.  During our quiet times we just ask that people are aware of their neighbours and they talk quietly in the communal areas.

How far in advance can I book at room at Marina House?  In general the rule is 30 days.  However, if you are not concerned as to which room you will get then we can take a booking up to 90 days before your arrival and we will confirm your room choice with 30 days to go.

What deposits do I need to pay?  Please see our "Rates" page.

I have never heard of Bangplad before, what's there?  Firstly let us let you know that Bangplad is a nicely kept secret.  At first glance (we all had this experience) it doesn't look promising, however once you start to scratch the surface you find a community that has no real "preconception" about farang and, therefore, we are mostly treated as equals and we have all made good friends locally.  The local population is quite evenly split between Buddhist and Muslim and they co-operate well for the good of their communities.  This is still a place where community exists day in day out and most people have taken us on board without question.  Locally we have many secrets, but it is easier to say that day to day life can be achieved within a 10 minute walk from Marina House.  Supermarkets, farmer's markets, transport options, hospitals, restaurants, etc are all located in Bangplad.  For Western cinema, large malls and more transport options we are located about 4km from Pin Klao which has 2 multiplexes, 2 supermarkets (TOPS & Tesco), a Central Plaza (large mall), 3 gyms and plenty more.  A little further afield and you come to another 3 supermarkets (all on direct buses from Marina House).  We are located about 6 minutes from Sanam Luang (Grand Palace, Thanon Khao San, Democracy Monument, Wat Pho and much more).

Who lives at Marina House?  We are all expats (farang) from all over the world.  Most people work as teachers throughout the city and at many different levels.  The rest of us are self-employed, artists and musicians.  If you have no experience in Thailand and/or Bangkok do not worry between the residents at Marina House there is well over 60 years of experience of living in Thailand.  If we can't answer your question then our owner's family will do anything and everything they can to find out.
